Carl Caravana, D.D.S. - Periodontist • Implantologist
Carl Steven Caravana was born in Manhattan on July 22, 1956 and raised on Long Island, New York. After graduating first in his class from Smithtown High School in 1974, he attended Columbia University receiving the B.A. Summa Cum Laude in 1978. Following a year of graduate study in organic chemistry at M.I.T., and a year as research associate in the Columbia University Department of Chemistry, he entered the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery attaining the D.D.S. in 1984 and the Certificate in Periodontics (Board qualified) in 1987. From 1987 to 2002 Dr. Caravana maintained a private practice of Periodontics in Manhattan and in March 2003 assumed ownership of the Group Health Dental Facility at 230 West 41st Street. Dr. Caravana was formerly Clinical Assistant Professor of Periodontics at Columbia University Dental School and continues to lecture at study groups and maintain membership in numerous professional and scientific organizations. His non-professional interests include literature, art, music and foreign languages.
