At Group Health Dental we do everything we can to make your dental visits peaceful, efficient and as pain free as possible. We are your One Stop Dental Care office with over 35 years experience for our residents in New York. Not only do we care about your dental experience in our office, but we also care about your dental care when you’re not in our office.
One way to care for your teeth on a daily basis is by performing the regularly recommended oral care procedures at home. The American Dental Association recommends:
- Brushing your teeth two minutes two times a day.
- Cleaning between your teeth once daily.
- Eating a balanced diet that limits sugary beverages and snacks.
- Seeing your dentist regularly for prevention and treatment of oral disease.
As part of eating a balanced diet, why not incorporate local and fall foods that are in season that will benefit your teeth?
Apples – (In season July through October) Apples are in season in the fall. They are very healthy and their crunchiness helps disturb pre-existing bacteria before they cause damage to your teeth.
Cranberries – (In season October through December) Cranberries contain polyphenols. They block the molecules that enable the sticky surface to form on your teeth. (Warning: Avoid sugary versions of cranberry products with high levels of sugar)
Pumpkins – (In season September through November) The magnesium found in pumpkins works with your tooth enamel and calcium to strengthen enamel and resist tooth decay.
